Rain, FIFA, and Harry Potter

Today is full of water, and pictures, fun, and... stuff! So as you might or might not know, today I got to go somewhere! (yay) I got to go to volunteer at FIFA HQ. Which is the Intercontinental Hotel on Bloor St. Which means instead of taking the subway down to union station, I take the subway to Bloor station, then switch over to the Bloor line, and take that to St. George station. As I left the station, it started to pour. Literally pour.

rain!
more rain!

So as it was pouring, I took shelter under some construction shelter thing, those things that shield the sidewalk from falling objects or w/e. Anyways, as I was standing there, I could see the ROM pretty clearly. I started to realize that it was uglier than I originally thought it was. I always knew that it was ugly. But I never knew that it was ugly to this extent. I don’t know what you think about it, but I personally think it is ugly.

ugliness

After around 5 minutes of standing in the shelter type thing, I decided to make a break for it, and run into the hotel. I was early, so I decided to go to the food place and get a bite to eat before my shift started (even though I could eat during my shift). When I got to the food place, THERE WAS NO FOOD! All they had was coffee, and drinks (coke, diet coke, sprite, etc…) I was really hungry, so I made my mind to run to McDonalds to grab something, and run back. It was a really stupid idea. It was raining harder than ever. When I got to McDonalds, I was dripping water everywhere, and everyone was looking at me (McDonalds is like… 4 buildings down). I ordered my food, and ran back to the hotel, dripping wet again. The doorman saw me leave, and when he saw me come back, he just smiled at me (freaky). So as I got back to the hotel, Marloes (supervisor.. leader person. =P) got there! So I had good timing (the only time today).

the desk
unlimited supply of drinks, and the TV

The HQ is pretty quiet, the only person to come in today was some Japanese lady from Sony. She said she just came from Japan, and needed her badge. While waiting for her badge, she noticed that the laptops and TV we had were not Sony (FIFA partner & sponsor) but Toshiba. She made a few comments, and concluded that the Sony/FIFA deal was quite recent, so they didn’t have time to update it in Canada (haha). There was a bit of talking, and somehow we ended up talking about days, and she said it would be her second July 19th because she just came from Korea. That really confused me because when she first came in, she said she just arrived from Japan.
After the HQ accred. centre closed, Marloes was heading to the stadium, so I chose to tag along. During the ride there, we were both afraid of the rain, and how the game might be cancelled. When we arrived, Marloes gave me a poncho because the stadium is quite a way from the parking lot.
When I got to the stadium accred. centre, I got to watch the Argentina vs. Chile game (final score 3 – 0) I personally thought the game was more of an Oscar performance, and a poker game at the same time. The Argentineans were amazing actors and divers, while the ref gave out cards like a dealer in a poker game. The game ended 3 – 0 for Argentina, and 11 vs. 9. Chile received 2 red cards.
I was afraid to walk from the accred. centre to the TTC station, because of those DIE HARD Chile fans. I was afraid that they would be pissed that they lost, and take their anger on the first asian guy that they saw. But I made it out OK.

Chile fans.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is coming out on Saturday. I was pretty excited before, but not anymore. Someone spoiled the book for me. I pretty much know what happens in the book now, so if anyone wants me to spoil it for them, feel free to ask me!
Thanks!
Bye for now~

P.S.    I typed this up at 11:50 ish on… Thursday the 19th, and finished on Friday the 20th so the “today”s refer to thurday.
